psychedelic deep soul of the highest order, symphonic four was a st louis based band (as was the original label zudan). word is the record was recorded in detroit, and the backing band was made up of some members of parliament/funkadelic which would make a lot of sense. a long time spin for deep soul head but deserving of a wider audience and that why we could not resist to pull this one from the now again catalogue, 500 copies only.

personally endorsed and officially licensed remix of ned doheny. a first for anyone, we were granted full access to the separate tracks of a ned doheny masterpiece. accordingly, claremont 56 maestro paul -mudd- murphy was selected to preside over the full stems for ned’s classic -think like a lover- and asked to deliver one of his famed remixes. his gentle disco rework blew us all away. an extended triumph of strung out balearic bliss, it is presented here on vinyl as a limited edition of 500 copies, complete with the dub on the flip. with mastering handled by the wonderful simon francis - engineer for both claremont 56 and be with - you know this sounds every bit as good as it feels. housed in a beautifully produced disco sleeve, designed by mudd himself, these will not be around for long. just in time for spring/summer parties and festivals, ensure your set is flavoured with this slow-motion, string-drenched gift.

“we are what you think we are” is the tenth dispatch from the crew here at lost soul enterprises, new york city, usa. this compilation features a whopping 15 artists who together represent all corners of the label’s extended family, with frequent local collaborators paired with past guests of our various parties. it is served with love from us to you on 3 slabs of vinyl released in 3 installments.
each installment charts a different component of our sound: 10.1 highlights the influences of synthwave and postpunk electronics, 10.2 is comprised of razor-sharp acid and overdriven electro, and 10.3 delves into darker shades of industrial techno. together, all of these elements loosely sketch our little corner of the sonic universe. with this humble offering we tried to capture and share with you a little sliver of what we’ve found together in hazy rooms full of flashing lights and strange sounds.

here at quantize we simply love confounding expectations cos, guess what? we love all kinds of music and don t like to be stereotyped. but this one even surprised the hell out of us so much so that we figured it deserved a 7inch vinyl release in tribute to the original format. think (about it) was originally recorded 45 years ago in the summer of 1972 by the fiery lyn collins. produced by the godfather of soul, james brown, it barely scraped into the rnb top 10 at the time and normally would have faded into time as just another great james brown produced record but in 1987, it started to get sampled by a new generation of hip-hop artists like roxanne shante and robe base and dj e-z rock. suddenly the world woke up to the possibilities of sampling and since that point, think (about it) has been sampled 1908 times and is the no.3 most-sampled record of all time. so we decided to cut a new version of it with real musicians and one of the few vocalists that would be capable of matching lyn collins firepower - dance music s diva supreme, the incredible barbara tucker. we wanted barbara to really cut loose on this and she didn t disappoint. and yes, those are real keyboards, real guitar and real horns. believe us, this session was off the scale! so when we finally got our breath back we decided we had to get this out on a 45 on its 45th anniversary! it seemed the most appropriate way to do justice to a record that simply jumps outta the grooves. we believe think (about it) will have universal appeal pretty much everywhere since the song is now implanted within the dna of dance music across the world.

venezuelan extraordinaire producer trujillo is back with a new set of sun-injected future nostalgia cuts on apersonal music. street soul and trip-hop atmospheres deliciously blended together transports you back to a remote paradisiac beach in the heart of the venezuelan caribbean coast. both tracks feature the seductive voice of colombian paulo olarte and a very exclusive appearance from tropical disco maestro daniel grau in -hola como estas- on the piano. to complete the journey the flip side runs through the exquisite balearic tool mix of -everytime i think of u- by norwegian producer telephones, feeling hypnotic and sophisticated. el caribe te lo da!

to coincide with the full remix album’s unveiling on cd, the exquisite reworkings of all i think about is death and why you feel so low by techno heavyweights radio slave and function respectively, have been singled out for release on vinyl. the former bears all the hypnotic hallmarks of a radio slave classic: incrementally menacing percussive lines woven with the heart wrenching vocal chants of the original over an epic 12 minutes. at once understated and emphatic, the tenor is deepened in the extreme on an ambient atmos version. berghain resident, function, on the other hand treats claustrophobias flagship why you feel so low with a delicate touch: he retains the buoyant hook of the original, underlying it with a thunderous, reverberating bassline, handclaps for days, and a beat tailor-made for only the biggest and brightest sound systems.
